Academic Programs

Elm Road Elementary offers balanced literacy, Title 1, learning disabled, speech and hearing, inclusion of special needs children, interventionist, academic competitions, fine arts, PE, music, social skill development and an Art Smart program.  Parent conferences include student data.  Students participate in a cognitive ability-training program  All students visit the computer enrichment/remediation lab. A mastery learning model is in place for all students. Essential skills in reading and math are assessed on a regular basis. Students receive additional tutoring or enrichment based upon assessment results.

Instruction at Elm Road is delivered by groups of teachers organized into teams.  An objective-based curriculum is used in the subject areas of language arts and mathematics.  The curriculum is integrated in a developmentally appropriate manner to enhance student learning.

At Elm Road we believe in wrapping services around students and families to insure a student’s success.  Services for the family include counseling and support through referrals to outside agencies.
